What are weight gainers? What are weight gain powders and are they an effective way of gaining weight. Weight gain drinks are designed to boost your total calorie intake. This is needed because of the simple rule - if you eat more calories than you burn you will put on weight - but this is easier said than done:-
If your goal is to gain weight and build muscle, you need to eat the right foods at the right time. For hardgainers, gaining weight can seem almost impossible.
It's frustrating to train hard 3 or 4 times a week and see little in the way of results. You could train for months on end and see hardly any change in you physique. Weight gain powers are a convenient and easy way to give your body the nutrients it needs to grow. Weight gain powders, when used in conjunction with your weight training regime, could increase your muscle size and strength. If you have a fast metabolic rate or you struggle to gain weight no matter how hard you try, a weight gainer is an easy way to feed your body with the high-quality protein, carbs and calories it craves.
Like with protein, there is a lot of different weight gain powders out there from different companies who try and tell you their product is far better than everyone else's by using terms such as:-
'based on the very latest and most advanced research technology'
'results in 7 days'
'ultimate protein and carbohydrate combination'
'fast mass calories'
'new super strength ultimate best in the world complete body transformation in two hours with one shake that doesn’t taste like a shake'
and yes before you ask I have fallen for all of these claims and more (by the way I made the last one up if anyone was wondering) but you get the idea.
I fell for all the marketing tricks because I was unmotivated. Nothing was working, I was training every week and I was not seeing any results. After a while, you know as well as I do, it gets very disheartening. I can’t tell you which weight gain powder to buy as your taste buds are different to mine, I can though give you advice on what you want to look out for.
As with protein there are different types, but a weight gain powder is a powder that has a certain type of protein and carbs, some come with glutamine and/or Creatine in them. There are not different types of weight gain powder they all do the same thing, i.e bump up your daily calorie intake, but there are different products with different supplements in them.
From personal experience I would suggest that you stay away from the weight gain shakes that say they have 2 -3 thousand calories in them because they are very thick when mixed and are really hard to drink. I have only finished one on a few occasions and I felt sick and very bloated afterwards.
I would suggest that you try and find a weight gain shake that has around 600 calories in it, as you should find them easier to drink and not feel as bloated and sick.
Weight gain drinks are designed to boost your total calorie intake protein and carbs, which we need as there is a simple rule If you eat more calories than you burn you will put on weight but this is easier said than done, otherwise i would not be writing this website and you would not be reading it.
