Nutrition is basically how the body uses food it takes in. I will not go into too much detail about nutrition as I do not want to confuse anyone (or myself for that matter) I will keep it simple as I found that was the easiest way I could understand about it.
You will hear a lot of people talk about eating a balanced diet but what is a balanced diet? Many people have their own ideas on what a balanced diet is. Here are a few of them.
Just doing one these does not mean that your diet is balanced but it is better than nothing.
A balanced diet is one that contains a well proportioned amount of macronutrients and micronutrients, and a low level of salt, sugar and fats. This website is designed to help you put on weight and I feel that the more knowledge you have about a subject the better equipped you will be to tackle the task at hand. If you run into a problem hopefully you will have enough knowledge on how to combat that challenge and overcome it.
There are two different groups that provide the energy and building blocks your body needs to build and maintain every cell and organ, these are macronutrients and micronutrients.
Macro = Big, as the body requires them in large quantities.
Macronutrients = protein, fat, carbohydrtes.
Micro = Small, as the body requires them in small quantities.
Micronutrients = vitamins and minerals.
