Leg Press Exercise - how to perform the leg press

How to perform the leg press exercise correctly and safely which will help prevent injury.

Muscles Involved in order of importance:

  • Quadriceps
  • Glutes
  • Hamstrings
Sit on the machine and put your feet about shoulder width apart on the footplate. Lower the weight until your knees bend at 90 degrees and then push the weight back up with your legs until you are at the starting position. When doing this leg press exercise try not to bounce your knees off your chest and do not snap out or lock your knees when going back to the starting position.

Safety: Doing this exercise should be done with a spotter if you think the weight will be a bit too much, I also have a spotter when doing this exercise just to be on the safe side.

I run for my aerobic exercise. You can run, walk, dance; whatever you prefer. Just be certain to do aerobics at least 3 – 4 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes each workout. If you are using HIIT or something on that order, obviously you will be spending less time getting in your aerobics.
