Usually skinny people don’t gain muscle because of applying incorrect information that is not suitable for their body type. In this article i will tell you what you need to do in order to gain muscle if you were a skinny guy.

In my previous article How muscles grow i explained that your muscle will never grow before you first overload it by carrying a heavy weight.

Your body was designed to adapt to heavy weights by growing the muscles overtime to be able to carry that weight. If you used light weights or didn’t lift heavy enough there wont be a need for your body to adapt and it will never grow.

If you want to grow then you must seriously consider writing down the number of repetitions you managed to reach in each set.

The reason for this is that your muscle wont grow before you put more load on it than the load you used in the previous workout.

Lets say you are doing biceps curls and did the following three sets

Set one: 20 lbs 9 repetitions
Set two: 25 lbs 8 repetitions
Set three: 30 lbs 6 repetitions

now in order for your muscle to grow you have to do something more than what you did the next time you exercise your biceps. This could either be adding 5 lbs to each set so that the weights you carry become (25, 30,35) or this could be as simple as increase the number of repetitions so that your sets become as follows

Set one: 20 lbs 10 repetitions
Set two: 25 lbs 9 repetitions
Set three: 30 lbs 8 repetitions

because you did extra effort your muscles will be forced to adapt to that new load and so your muscles will grow.

For the previous reason you must right down your exercises so that you know what you need to do exactly the next time you workout.

Put in mind that you must not increase the weight unless you can perform the motion perfectly with the lighter weight. This means that if you can hardly lift the 30 lbs to do 6 reps then you must never increase the weight, Instead, you should keep trying each time until you can get 9 reps with that 30 lbs and at this point you can think about the 35 lbs.

Some skinny people get the whole thing wrong and believe that if they didn’t increase the weight they won’t gain any muscle mass but that’s completely wrong. your muscle doesn’t care about the weight you are carrying as it can’t read the label but it only cares about the load and intensity.

I have spent years doing the wrong things in the gym and didn’t get any result, fortunately i came across the book No nonsense muscle building which helped me get rid of most of the misconceptions that i had about body building and guided me to the right way that a skinny guy should take in order to get bigger, its worth checking out.

I run for my aerobic exercise. You can run, walk, dance; whatever you prefer. Just be certain to do aerobics at least 3 – 4 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes each workout. If you are using HIIT or something on that order, obviously you will be spending less time getting in your aerobics.
